June's collection comes in a little late as the year seems to accelerate through. July and August promise to be hectic and I feel like the middle of the this year holds a weight of significance with several big life events happening. My 35th birthday has just past; Caroline's sister is getting married this week; at work we are moving to fantastic new premises (an old police station that my boss, Matthew, has been working hard to refit over several months); I'm shooting my friend's Tom and Kate's wedding in a couple of weeks; and most significantly, my own wedding to Caroline is in August.
With such a large amount of stuff going on, I think a certain amount of anxiety is inevitable. I feel my conditioned self wanting things to be rushed through and resolved, and any tensions released. But what a waste of life to be feeling such a way at a significant time. So I remind myself the importance of being present, slowing down and enjoying the ride. Because ultimately if you aren't enjoying the journey what is the point. I pause and practice gratitude for this burst of activity and opportunity for adventure.
Taking the time to shoot is a great way to pause and slow down. It allows me to appreciate the wonder in the ordinary and everyday, it helps me get out of my own head and realise I'm part of something so much bigger. Bring it on.
June's collection was shot in Bath, Bristol and Sidmouth, with one iPhone addition from London.
