Kate and Tom are the kind of couple whose friendliness and humour, puts you at instant ease.
The first time I met Tom he accompanied a friend to a flat warming I was having for a new pad in Clifton. Whilst others were sipping their prosecco Tom was getting stuck in fixing things. As I’ve grown to know him better, I’ve found this act of kindness very telling of his personality: kind, generous, and someone who breaks down barriers by getting stuck in!
Kate is much the same. I first met her on the football field and immediately liked her, as unlike most guys she passed the ball lots. Around that time I also met Kate: Tom’s new Girlfriend. So for a while (a couple of weeks at least) I thought there were two different Kates! I don’t think she knows this story. I'm so sorry Kate. I feel relieved now I’ve confessed
When they told me the story of their engagement, with Tom proposing by the edge of Lake Windermere, I properly welled up; it warmed me to my heart’s cockles. I know what a special place the lake is after spending so many childhood adventure holidays there, beside (and in!) those magic waters.
I’m so excited to be photographing their wedding next year, and this engagement shoot in the beautiful, autumnal, Victoria Park, was just a glimpse of the fun to come. T+K’s house perches on a hill’s edge amongst the multicoloured victorian terraces that Bristol is so famous for. And this is where we started our adventure, in their steep garden picking apples from a huge tree.
Enjoy, and as the nights draw in and the heating gets turned up, I hope this too warms your cockles.
